Death Valley National Park

 This is our first time staying outside of our home in this pandemic.  This travel plan was made within a week.

Packing for a four day trip:


Heading to Death Valley NP:  

We started our trip at 2 pm before the traffic hits the road.



DAY 1:

Furnace creek visitor center.

Harmony Borax Works:


 Cool down and lunch at Visitor center again,

Bad water basin:

Sunset at Bad water basin.


 

Natural bridge Hike after sunset:

It's a small 1mile round trip hike.  Different experience after sunset. Enjoyed the nice cool breeze in DVNP.



DAY2:

Day started by 6:15am  for us today.  

Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes:

                 Early morning is the best time to walk on the sand dunes, because the sand will get super hot after some time. We walked barefoot to enjoy the soft sand(though watch for thorns). Recommend to use sandals and take water to hydrate.

Valley Floor:

    Don't miss to stop by at the valley floor on the way to Darwin falls unless you want to miss to see the dry land.

Darwin Falls:

            It's a 2 mile round trip kids friendly hike.  Out and back hike to desert waterfall. Minor rock scrambling and stream crossing.This is the source of drinking water in DV.  We did this hike in mid of the day in full hot. Good news you are going get the shade and 15 degree less heat in 10 mins of  your hike.  Kids most favorite hike in DV and don't miss it. 

Father Crowley Vista Point: 

            You can view the colorful layers of Rainbow Canyon. It a one of the must see locations. We were wish to see some low level military training flights but not this time !

 

DAY 3:

Zabriskie  Point:  

       Most spectacular spot for sunrise.  45 mins away from where we stayed. Its worth drive at the morning.

Dantes view:

                 Breathtaking viewpoint over 5000ft above DV.  Here you can see the lowest part of  DV Bad water Basin(-282ft) and Telescope Peak, the highest peak in DV(11,049ft).   We finished our packed breakfast at Dantes View.


Ranger program:

            We did some junior ranger program and shopping at the visitor center.

 Golden Canyon: 

            We took golden canyon trail to see golden canyon and Red Cathedral.  Its a 2.5 mile moderate level hike.  Final view is worth for the hike in 90 degrees.   Take plenty water, hat and energy bar.
